I need to recharge the A/C in my wife's 1999 Jetta. I have tried to find the correct port but I only see one. If you are standing in front of the car it is on you left, top, and very visiable. It is coming from the A/C compressor but there is nothing on here (that I know of ) that will indicate to be that it is the low or high port.
I just want to add a can of freon since the A/C is not cooling like it was
How do I find the low a/c port on my 1999 Jetta?
the high side is in the back or firewall passenger side. the low is in the front passenger side. high side at idle is about 200 and low around 30 at idle. takes roughly 1.6 lbs after you evac the system.
Reply:The high side and low side are two different sizes. Follow the A/C lines from the condensor and it should be very close to the A/C drier.
Reply:That is the correct one that you see. The coupler from the a/c coolant you are going to add will only fit there. Make sure you have one with a gauge so you can read the proper pressure. I added a bit to mine a year ago and it made an instant diference. Make sure you only use R-134a too!
